Dist:0.1kmHead east down Church Street then through the north gate into the Pavilion complex. Initially this area was a small strolling park and a dairy farm on the other side of the road from the Royal Pavilion. The land was gradually acquired between 1795 and 1819 and was laid out as a garden once the road had shut from 1816. Sold to Brighton Corporation with the rest of the Pavilion Estate in 1850. The gardens were restored to their original plan between 1985-87 though many trees were lost in the hurricane of 1987. Now a popular park, particular at lunch times on hot days, with a cafe behind the trees at the western edge.
