Dist:1.3km northeastThe Knockmore Jct – Castlewellan line opened in 1863 as far as Banbridge and to Castlewellan in 1906. It closed beyond Banbridge in 1955 and, in 1956, the Knockmore – Banbridge section succumbed. The line was not lifted for another five years. By 1981, the old goods shed (now demolished- top left) was being converted to a leisure centre. The goods loading bank was still in existence but clearly in its last days. Almost everything in this photo has now gone and been replaced by a new purpose-built leisure centre and car park. The Unitarian church [[646004]] (top right) is the only remaining reference point.
