5-Step Workflow

Load old photo

    • a) Upload from file
    • b) Open GhostViewer (GV) map (new tab)
    • c) Import from Geograph

    Add new photo

      • Use Photo Library, Take Photo, Choose File, or Ghost Guide Camera

      Match landmarks

        • Click matching points on both photos
        • Use at least 4 points (6-8 spread across the image is better)

        Align images

          • Click Align Images
          • Try Similarity, Affine, or Perspective if needed

          Review and output

            • Check alignment quality
            • Adjust points/mode and re-align if required
            • Save project if signed in

            Tips for Best Results

            • Use corners + center landmarks, not clustered points.
            • Crop/straighten photos before matching if lines look tilted.
            • Keep the same camera angle and distance where possible.
            • For strong viewpoint differences, try Perspective mode.

            Geograph Quick Notes

            • Location is required, keyword is optional.
            • You can use current location.
            • Keep source attribution when reusing Geograph images.
