Geograph “Details” (what it does)

When you search Geograph, each result has a Details button.

What you’ll see

  • A larger preview of the selected Geograph image.
  • The date of the photo (when available).
    • If an exact date isn’t available, it may show the year instead.
  • An Open in Google Maps link (when the image has coordinates).

Open in Google Maps (why it’s useful)

Tap Open in Google Maps to open directions to the photo location. This works on:

  • Phones (opens the Maps app or browser and can show your live location)
  • Desktop (opens Google Maps in a new tab)

Tips

  • Use Details to double-check you’ve picked the right viewpoint before loading the image.
  • If you’re out in the field, Open in Google Maps helps you understand where the photo was taken relative to where you are now.
