What GIF quality means

GhostViewer offers 3 GIF quality options:

  • Low (small file)
Smallest file size, easiest to share, best default for most posts.
  • Medium (balanced)
Better detail than Low, larger file, good all-round choice.
  • High (best quality)
Best visual quality, largest file size, best when detail matters.

Important: quality also affects playback speed

In the current version, higher GIF quality can play slightly faster than Low.
So quality changes both:

  • image detail/file size, and
  • timing/speed of the old/new transition.

Recommended starting point

Start with Low for first export, then switch to Medium/High only if:

  • text/building detail is too soft, or
  • you need higher fidelity for a specific showcase post.

When to use each option

  • Use Low when:
    • posting to social quickly
    • mobile data/file size matters
    • you want smoother, slightly slower pacing
  • Use Medium when:
    • Low looks too compressed
    • you want a quality-size compromise
  • Use High when:
    • image detail is critical
    • you can accept larger files
    • destination platform allows bigger uploads

Tips for better GIF results

  • Place matching points across the whole image (not clustered).
  • Use fixed landmarks (corners, windows, rooflines), not trees/cars/people.
  • Crop/straighten before matching for cleaner transitions.
  • If the transition feels jumpy, improve point placement before increasing quality.
  • If the GIF is too large, reduce quality first.

Troubleshooting

  • “Too fast” feeling:
Try Low quality (currently the slowest pacing).
  • “Too blurry” result:
Try Medium first, then High if needed.
  • “File too big” to upload:
Use Low, and reduce extra visual complexity where possible.
