Quick Decision Guide

  • Choose Animated GIF when you want a simple looping animation supported in many places.
  • Choose Video (MP4/WebM) when you want best quality motion and smooth playback.

1) Save Image (JPG)

Best for:

  • Website images
  • Blog post images
  • Social media still posts
  • Printing or archiving a single final frame

Why choose it:

  • Smallest and fastest export.
  • Easiest to upload almost anywhere.
  • Great when animation is not needed.

Tips:

  • Use output crop/aspect controls before export.
  • Add title/year caption if you want context on the image.

2) Animated GIF

Read more about Gif output.

Best for:

  • Simple looping previews
  • Quick visual comparisons in places that accept GIF uploads
  • Lightweight animation where video is not ideal

Why choose it:

  • Autoplays as a loop in many contexts.
  • Easy to embed in some forums/docs/chat tools.

Important notes:

  • GIF files can become large quickly with photo content.
  • Some platforms impose strict file-size limits.
  • GIF uses reduced colors compared to video.

GIF Quality options:

  • Low (default) – smallest file, fastest export; best for uploads with tight limits.
  • Medium – balanced quality and size.
  • High – better quality but larger files.

If your GIF is too large:

  • Switch GIF quality to Low.
  • Use tighter output crop.
  • Use a smaller aspect/output frame.

3) Video Export (MP4/WebM)

Best for:

  • Highest-quality animated result
  • Social media reels/posts (after platform-compatible conversion if needed)
  • Smooth transitions with better compression than GIF

Why choose it:

  • Better visual quality at similar or smaller size than high-detail GIFs.
  • Handles photographic transitions much better than GIF compression.

Important notes:

  • Browser format differs:
  • Safari may export MP4.
  • Chrome/Edge often export WebM.
  • Some platforms require MP4 specifically.

If platform rejects video:

  • Convert WebM to MP4 in your preferred converter/editor.
  • Or export GIF (Low quality) for compatibility.

Extra Output Controls That Affect All Formats

  • Output frame (aspect, zoom, shift): controls final composition.
  • Brightness controls: improve old/new image visibility before export.
  • Caption (title/year): adds context for public sharing.
  • Watermark: optional branding mark.
  • Video end screen: optional closing card for video exports.

Common Scenarios

  • “I need one clean image for a blog post.”
    -> Use Save Image (JPG).
  • “I need a short loop and the site only supports image uploads.”
-> Use GIF, start with Low quality.
  • “I want best animated quality for social channels.”
-> Use Video, then convert if the platform needs MP4.
